My first visit to the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart was in the fall of 2002, and I remember being so mesmerized by the whole place - the campus bustling in youth and higher learning, the basilica steep in Catholic symbolism and art, the library glowing in pride for its own mentors authoring a compendium of great books, the grotto built as close as you can get to the original one in Lourdes! Now, I'm back the second time around... and it's spring! Many things have not changed. It is as beautiful as I first saw it. I am still mesmerized. The big difference is - this time, I actually concelebrated mass at the basilica, and had the privilege of listening to the Notre Dame Glee Club. It is a bonus that many plants and trees are already in bloom. I will go back again, for more great shots!
